Rejoice Always And Be Exceedingly Glad

It’s a Good Day! It’s A Great Day! It’s A Glorious Day! It’s An All-things God Day!

This is the day the Lord has made, let’s choose to rejoice and be exceedingly glad in it.

For the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. {Psalms 121:1-6}

So, let’s just choose to rejoice and be exceedingly glad!

His Grace is ours, His victory is ours, His peace is ours, His righteousness is ours, and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places are ours. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, and nothing, I mean NOTHING! shall be able to separate us from the love our God has for us in Christ Jesus!

So, let’s just choose to rejoice and be exceedingly glad!

No, everything taking place in our lives and in our world is not just like we want it to be, in fact, some things in our lives and in our world, are downright painful and far from perfect. However, because we are the children of the living God, and His Spirit lives within us, we can rejoice despite our external circumstances. We can rejoice because joy, a fruit of the Holy Spirit within us, is part of who we are. We don’t have to search for this joy, nor do we have to purchase this joy. This joy came in when the Holy Ghost came in. This joy came in when the Kingdom of God came in; so, in the words of the saints of ole, “This joy I have, the world didn’t give it, and the world can’t take it away.”

Therefore, because joy is in us, we really can, “rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice” {Philippians 4:4}. We really can, “count it all joy when we meet trials of various kinds” {James 1:2}. Beloved, we really can “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer” {Romans 12:12}.

However, let us keep in mind that there is no hocus-pocus in the kingdom of God; nor is there voodoo or black magic in God’s kingdom. There is no easy or quick fix to being able to rejoice always, especially in those times when life plays hardball and throws you situations and circumstances that literally knock the wind out of you. But just as it is from the very beginning of salvation, by grace through faith we are saved, even so, we are to continue to live by faith throughout our salvation. As it is written, the just shall live by faith.

So, how do we rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice?

Well, we do it by grace through faith. While we say grace is God's unmerited favor, we can also say it is God enabling us to do what we can’t do, in, and of ourselves. Philippians 2:13 says it this way, "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." God graces us with the ability to do those things that pertain to eternal life. He supplies us with grace to carry out His will. If He doesn't grace us to carry out His will and do those things that are of eternal value, then we couldn't do them. John 15:5 says it this way, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

Beloved, anything that is of eternal value, we can't do in our own strength. It takes the grace of God to enable us to rejoice always, especially when the situations and circumstances of life are challenging us beyond our natural ability. I can think of several of those challenges that will knock the wind out of us, but I am sure that you are already aware of most, if not all of them.

Therefore, we are encouraged to come boldly before the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find GRACE to help us in our time of need {Hebrews 4:16}. Let’s not forget that God is the God of ALL GRACE, and we can find the appropriate grace we need when we come boldly before His throne.

Beloved, I don’t know about you, but I need His grace to deal with the many challenges of life, as well as to perform His will.

So, if I am to rejoice in the Lord always and be exceedingly glad, it will be by grace, that is, God enabling me to do that which I can't do of myself, and this, through faith in Him. By grace, through faith, I am able to rejoice despite my external circumstances and situations.

Beloved, do you see it now? Do you see how it is that we can proclaim every day to be a Good Day! a Great Day! a Glorious Day! an All-things God Day?” We do it by grace through faith, knowing that despite our external circumstances and situations, despite the challenges of life that come our way, God is able to make all grace abound towards us; so that having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work {2 Corinthians 9:8}. Everything we need to make such proclamation, and the faith to believe it, God has already graced us with.

And so beloved, every day, by grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, the Lord is good, and his steadfast love endures forever.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good!

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, the Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, he who began a good work in us will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

Beloved, I can go on and on about why we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad despite our external circumstances and our unfavorable situations, but I will close with this last one:

By grace through faith, we can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because we know, and do believe, God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Let us pray:

Our Father in heaven, today is the day that you have made, and we have chosen to rejoice and to be exceedingly glad. You have done and are doing great things on our behalf, and we are forever grateful. Just as You rejoice over us with joy, may we forever rejoice over you with exceeding and great joy. May our rejoicing in and over you never be predicated on our external circumstances, but may our rejoicing always flow from the Holy Spirit within us.

Father, when the challenges of life make rejoicing in you difficult and nearly impossible, grace us with grace upon grace that we may rejoice despite our challenges. And Lord, although our spirit is always willing to rejoice, and to do those things that are of eternal value, our flesh is weak; therefore, bless us with multiplied grace that we may continually rejoice in you, as well as perform those things that are of eternal value.

In the name of Jesus, Your only begotten Son, we pray, amen.

Beloved, thank you for taking the time to read this post. I pray that something was said to encourage you and help you to continue in your walk with God. Until we come together again, “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

In Jesus' name, amen.
