Beloved, with the spirit of fear invading the heart and mind of so many today, I pray that you will remember and take to heart the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 14:1, “Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me.” {Amplified Bible}
Although Jesus spoke these words to his disciples over two thousand years ago, we can admit that they are just as relevant for us as they were for his disciples; and while we may desire to heed the words of Jesus, “let not your heart be troubled, believe in God and trust in me,” many are fearful, troubled, and stressed.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has invaded our world and left us all vulnerable to fear, stress, and troubled hearts. Even the strongest of us are finding ourselves wrestling with fear and anxiety. And to add to the frustrations from the pandemic, the uncertainty, and the pandemonium of our national leaders is sometimes way more than we desire to bear.
So, where do we go? What do we do in times of uncertainty as these? With so much pain, sickness, death, injustice, poverty, abuse, neglect, and so much more of the likes, where do we go and what do we do?
My friend, I am no expert, but I know someone who is, God, our Father. In times such as these, we can find safety and comfort in His Word and in the Holy Spirit. So, I leave you with the comforts of the Word of God.
First, we go to the Rock {Jesus}:
- Psalm 61:2-4 – 2 For wherever I am, though far away at the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help. When my heart is faint and overwhelmed, lead me to the mighty, towering Rock of safety. 3 For you are my refuge, a high tower where my enemies can never reach me. 4 I shall live forever in your tabernacle; oh, to be safe beneath the shelter of your wings! {Living Bible}
Second, this is what we do:
- John 14:1 - “Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in me. {King James Bible}
Finally, this is what we know:
- 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” {Amplified Bible}
Therefore, beloved, if a spirit of fear has attached itself to you, please know that it is not from God; therefore, remember the words of our Lord in Matthew 18:18, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth [a]shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth [b]shall have [already] been loosed in heaven.” {AMP}
Beloved a spirit of fear has no right to operate in your life. It is an illegal spirit. Any Spirit, as well as any thought, that God did not give you is illegal and must be cast down and cast out. Therefore, resist it, rebuke it, and restrict it from operating in your life, in Jesus name.
And again, I say, “when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
And again, I say, “Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in Jesus.”
And again, I say, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
God bless and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. In Jesus name, Amen!
